Diagnostic & fault finding

Car Diagnostics, easy right? Far from it, anyone with basic computer competence can plug in some diagnostic equipment and extract a fault code but where do they go from there?

The fault code will only give you a circuit fault or component reading out of range but what next? How do you determine whether the fault is due to a physical, mechanical or electrical fault? How do you interpret the fault code and its meaning?

_MG_5233Car Diagnostics and fault finding can raise more questions than answers to those that are improperly trained. It takes years of training and experience to be able to efficiently and successfully carry out diagnostic repairs on modern vehicles and “plugging it in” is only one small step in that process. It takes a deep understanding of modern vehicle systems and how they interact with each other as well as thorough competence in auto electrics.

This is why we only use factory trained master technicians to carry out our diagnostic and fault finding work. To complement the best technicians we can get we also have the best equipment. We run various diagnostic platforms from Bosch, Delphi, Omitech and Snap-On. We also have a comprehensive range of physical test equipment including smoke leak testing, pressure testers and compression testers.
